L I N G E R is about the second kind.

For Lisa Bondè, the seven songs on her first release under her own name grew out of a period of looking backwards while trying to move forwards. That sounds like a familiar human problem. It is also the kind that refuses to stay neatly in the past.

Places. People. Memories. Old versions of yourself.

Things you thought you had left behind, only to discover they were still sitting somewhere in the room.

Lisa knows the feeling. You can hear it in the idea behind this EP, a collection of songs about longing, love, confusion, growing up and trying to find your way back to yourself.

What makes L I N G E R interesting, though, is that this isn't Lisa Bondè's first encounter with making music.

Lisa is the main voice and songwriter behind LISABON, the project she makes with Bonne van der Wal. There is already a musical identity there. L I N G E R is something else.

Closer.

More personal.

Under her own name, Lisa creates a little more room for herself.

That makes the EP feel less like a debut in the traditional sense and more like an introduction. Not to a songwriter who has suddenly appeared, but to another side of one we haven't heard in quite this way before.

And the title does a lot of work.

L I N G E R.

Even the word seems reluctant to leave.

The songs move between intimate singer-songwriter moments and larger electric soundscapes, which gives the EP an interesting tension. There is closeness, but there is also movement. The music can feel small for a moment and then suddenly open up.

That feels right for a record about trying to move on while carrying pieces of what came before.

Because longing is rarely dramatic.

Sometimes it is just a song you haven't stopped thinking about.

A place you remember differently now.

A person who isn't there anymore.

Or the strange realisation that the version of yourself you were trying to leave behind might still have something to say.

That is where L I N G E R seems to live.

Somewhere between holding on and letting go.

And perhaps that is what makes this first solo chapter worth paying attention to. Lisa Bondè isn't presenting a completely new identity. She is opening a door that was already there and allowing us to hear what happens on the other side.

The EP arrives on September 10.

Seven songs.

One new name to listen for.

And a feeling that, apparently, wasn't quite ready to leave.
